The story behind the story of RAILROADED

PRINT FEATURE : How does a seasoned investigative reporter like Steve Buist chase a story that began 31 years ago and was hidden under provincial privacy laws for the past 16 years? Almost by accident! I found out how he avoided being Railroaded himself so that this story could finally be told.

How did they use their youthful vote?

INTERACTIVE : In the 2011 Canadian federal election only 39% of eligible voters under 24 made it to the ballot box. That left over 3 million youth votes un-cast. The reasons for not voting vary from person to person, but some people point to the belief that their ballot will not make a difference, and that their lives will not change as a result of one vote.

About

LORRAINE YOUNG

I am following my passion for information collection, analysis, consolidation and communication toward my third career.

I am a life-long learner, continuing my education since university graduation to study everything from ceramics through interior decorating and creative writing.
In May 2013 I returned to school full-time to study journalism.

My background is in social and community service, both in the public sector and as an independent consultant. In each of these roles, I enjoyed significant growth opportunities and have been privileged to work with many supportive leaders and dynamic teams.

I am excited by the prospect of new directions and the opportunity to continue writing, now in new ways and for new audiences.
